Pela primeira vez em 40 anos, aconteceu nesta segunda-feira (25) a 66ª edição do Emmy Awards. A cerimônia foi comandada pelo comediante Seth Meyers (Saturday Night Live), que realizou piadas um tanto respeitosas com o público.
Em um documentário ambientado nas ruas de Nova York, Meyers brincou com a fama do prêmio, que não é tão conhecido fora de Los Angeles. Outro momento de descontração no evento foi o beijo improvisado entre Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) e Julia Louis-Dreyfus, pouco antes da atriz subir ao palco para receber a estatueta pelo seu papel em Veep.

A grande aposta da noite, The Normal Heart, conseguiu apenas um prêmio, o de melhor filme para TV. A surpresa na categoria ficou com a minissérie inglesa Sherlock, que recebeu os Emmys de melhor ator (Benedict Cumberbatch), direção (Steven Moffat) e ator coadjuvante (Martin Freeman). Mais uma vez, Breaking Bad foi contemplado na categoria melhor ator , ator (Cranston), coadjuvante (Aaron Paul), atriz coadjuvante (Anna Gunn), roteiro e série dramática.
O comediante Robin Williams, encontrado morte neste mês, também recebeu uma emocionante homenagem de Billy Crystal, que relembrou algumas histórias íntimas com o amigo.
